Puerto Asis, Putumayo. January 3, 2025 – Amerisur announces that on November 24, 2024, an incident at PAD 9 in the Platanillo Block resulted in an accidental release of a small amount of spray by a flare, partially affecting vegetation and topsoil in a limited area.
This type of incident is distinct from an oil spill and consists of the escape of aerosol-like particles. While a spill involves the massive release of liquid hydrocarbons that can impact bodies of water and ecosystems, spray does not generate runoff or pollute water sources.
The Company immediately activated its contingency plan to control the event and mitigate possible environmental impact. Acting responsibly, Amerisur identified and marked the boundaries of the affected area, in which bodies of water were unaffected and the impact was on vegetation and topsoil only. Immediate remediation actions included collecting plant material, preventively installing absorbent barriers in a nearby body of water to avoid any possible trace of oil, controlled pruning, and daily inspections to prevent additional impacts. Company representatives have met twice with the owners and residents of the neighboring property since the incident to report on what happened and detail the measures that Amerisur has taken to deal with the contingency.
Following the provisions of its contingency plan, the Company informed environmental authorities about the incident within established times through the reporting channels established by the applicable environmental regulations and submitted a closing report with all the actions taken to mitigate the impact. Amerisur’sdialogue channels remain open to clarify any concerns:
